Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that they will offer the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine in the brand-new Mazda CX-5. The announcement came earlier this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The offer will be available in North America in the second half of 2017. The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 will be Mazda’s first diesel engine model offered in North America.
The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 offers a torque-rich driving experience revving freely to high RPMs. The new model will meet the region’s strict emission standards, making the new CX-5 one of the most fuel efficient within its class. The engine is also equipped with Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control, reducing diesel knock for a more silent and enjoyable driving experience.

Akria Marumoto, Mazda’s Executive Vice President and Representative Director claims the company is overjoyed with the new SKYACTIV-D 2.2 and is a unique option for customers looking for a high-quality engine.
“We’re confident this engine offers a smart new option for North American drivers who want both performance and fuel economy,” Marumoto said.

Mazda prides itself on providing a pleasurable driving experience with an outstanding environmental performance. The brand’s aim is to enrich consumer’s lives and become a brand that allows for an emotional connection.
