Mazda’s 2016 MX-5 Miata roadster and CX-3 subcompact crossover SUV have recently been honored by the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). The annual NEMPA awards dinner, which was held at the MIT Media lab on May 26, honored those who made outstanding contributions to the automotive industry.
They awarded MX-5 with the “Best Affordable Convertible,” part of the NEMPA Ragtop Awards category. Journalists at the NEMPA stated, “Seeing a 20-year old Miata with pop-up headlights is sure to make you smile. Mazda had a winner with the Miata right from day one and has kept the celebration going.”
The “Best-in-Class Sub-Compact SUV/Crossover” in the NEMPA’s Winter Vehicle Awards category went to Mazda’s CX-3. “Any all-wheel drive version of the CX-3 gives New Englanders an outstanding choice for economical winter driving,” the NEMPA said.
Beside these recent awards for the MX-5 and CX-3, Mazda has already taken in over 100 honors in the automotive industry during the 2016 calendar year. The 2016 MX-5 has also recently won two separate awards: World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year.
