Mazda is always adding a little excitement to your life. Whether its new body work or faster engines, they never stop aiming to please. It is no different with the debut of the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback (RF). This exciting convertible sports car is the fourth of its generation and offers something that its predecessors have never dreamed of having—a retractable hardtop.
Everything about the RF screams style, whether it's top-down or top-up. Convertibles traditionally come with a soft top, but Mazda took traditional and threw it out the window with the MX-5 RF. With innovative fastback technology, Mazda has designed a vehicle that is both cute and sporty, giving their customers the best of both worlds. With the top down, the car has the sleekest roofline of any convertible. Yet the convertible hardtop sacrifices no extra cargo space or elegance when retracted, making top-down driving just as comfortable while transforming a powerful and sporty drive to fun and breezy one.
The most notable aspect of the MX-5 RF's design is its color: Machine Gray. Mazda says it was designed using the technology that brought us Soul Red in previous generations and was intended to accentuate its KODO design. All those curves need to be noticed and appreciated, and that is exactly what the new color aims to do. The RF was truly built to be good-looking, top or no top, and nothing shows it like Machine Grey. It is, in one word, breathtaking.
