The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has rated three Mazda vehicles in 2017. The “Top Safety Pick+” awardees are the Mazda CX-3 subcompact crossover SUV, Mazda3 compact sedan, and the five-door midsize Mazda6 family sedan. Vehicles must go through a variety of evaluations like small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests along with crash prevention.

The Mazda family earned “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings for front crash-prevention. This is due to additional break supports and emergency braking systems. You can count on your Mazda to stop when you want it to.

All vehicles must also pass rigorous headlight assessments. A class exclusive for the 2017 CX-3 is available adaptive LED headlights that allow drivers to see potential obstacles from farther away. Always see the road from you Mazda.

“The IIHS ‘Top Safety Pick+' distinction becomes tougher and tougher to earn, yet our vehicles continue to prove their mettle with no compromise—whether it’s with safety, outstanding fuel-efficiency or any number of other areas,” said Senior VP, Mazda North American Operations, Robert Davis.

The compact 2017 Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV and three-row CX-9 have yet to be tested. MX-5 models are not evaluated for U.S. testing.

The IIHS is an independent, non-governmental safety-testing organization, funded by the insurance industry.
