When contemplating what vehicle to choose, families usually go for the safest and most spacious ones. Recently, the 2017 Mazda CX-9 has been given a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), ideal for families of any size and couples just starting out as well.
This is not the first title given to the three-row crossover SUV. The Mazda CX-9 has also been rewarded on Car and Driver’s “10 Best Trucks and SUVs” list and was also mentioned on Wards Automotive’s prestigious “10 Best Interiors and Engines” list.
In order to create the perfect and secure Mazda vehicle, Mazda’s engineers and designers stuck to “The concepts of ‘self’ and ‘family,’ as well as ‘smart indulgence,’” said Masashi Otsuka, VP of R&D and design, Mazda North American Operations. Otsuka is the person responsible for the making of the Mazda CX-9, and went on to say that Mazda’s goal was to craft an SUV-type vehicle aimed towards making couples happy while also satisfying families with children.
The engineers of the Mazda CX-9 have finally gotten the recognition they deserve through this most recent IIHS award. The SUV passed all of the IIHS tests with “Good” ratings, including the collision and occupancy protection, headlight, and LED lighting test. The CX-9 met the IIHS requirements in the automatic emergency braking reaction test as well with Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support for low-speed immediate braking; the vehicle also includes Mazda’s Smart Brake Support, a radar-based system for faster speed limits.
In addition to its reliable safety features, the Mazda CX-9 is elegantly crafted inside and out due to its “KODO-Soul of Motion” design. The vehicle contains Nappa leather seating and rosewood interior accents, contributed by one of the world’s finest guitar manufacturers, Fujigen.
With everything this car has to offer, the starting suggested retail price is $31,520, which is a reasonable value for its appearance and quality.
