The fourth generation Mazda MX-5, in most circles known as the Miata, has come a long way since its first generation. Throughout the years it’s kept the same delightful characteristics instilled in the previous generations. The Miata is favorably known for its lightweight frame, great driving dynamics, and overall fun to drive package it provides for drivers. Released late last year the current model has won over many critics and received many accolades for its innovative design and engineering, and just recently it’s been awarded Cars.com’s Play Car of the Year award.

Much like Mazda’s other models it’s made available in three trims: MX-5 Sport, Club, and Grand Touring. All three come standard with modern high end features like LED headlights, rear cross-traffic alert and lane-departure warning. All models are available with the soft top edition, while the Club and Grand Touring are available in the slick MX-5 RF retractable fastback.

The renowned MX-5 is well-equipped with a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine with a six-speed manual, or optional six-speed automatic, that kicks out 155 hp of pure driving bliss. Keeping the speedster light was a goal for the team at Mazda, and aluminum was the material of choice to accomplish that. Add the rear wheel drive aspect and affordability to the mix and you start seeing the beauty of the Miata.

Fun to drive, great feedback, and competitive pricing make the Miata a winner in many regards. Whether it’s reserved for Sunday evening drives or used as a daily driver—the MX-5 captures the essence of a fun driving experience.
