Mazda aims to please, and all backseat passengers are sure to appreciate the brand new addition of a rear seat entertainment system featuring monitors for CX-9 models. The new feature is a dealer-installed accessory and can be added to all 2016, 2017 and 2018 Mazda CX-9s, in addition to being offered as a port-installed item in select 2018 Mazda CX-9s.
Thanks to the new entertainment accessory, rear-seat passengers will be able to enjoy watching their favorite movies, keeping them entertained while running quick errands, long road trips, and everything in between.
The rear seat entertainment accessory comes equipped with a single CD/DVD player as well as two 8-inch LCD monitors which boast 1024 x 600 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Other features include USB 2.0 and SD card inputs, two remote controls, and HDMI ports for wired device connections like Android or iOS smartphones and tablets. Passengers can enjoy their choice between using the 5mm stereo headphone output or the two IR-type wireless headphones that come with the new accessory.
When backseat passengers can’t agree on what to watch, the rear seat entertainment accessory allows them to play different content on the two monitors at the same time as the video data can come from USB, SD, CD/DVD or HDMI sources.
Keeping passengers safe remains a top priority for Mazda, and the rear seat entertainment accessory underwent extensive testing, passing all evaluations according to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
The addition of the rear seat entertainment accessory followed the trend of Mazda’s multiple new amenities to make the vehicle more competitive among other three-row crossovers. Other recent updates made in the 2018 model year included standard automatic emergency braking on all trims, rear-cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring.
Comfort is also key in 2018 as Mazda introduced a heated steering wheel and, further keeping the backseat passengers in mind, the dealership also added heated second-row seats.
The rear seat entertainment accessory is now available at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,995.
