Mazda introduced the updated 2019 CX-3 subcompact crossover SUV at the 2018 New York International Auto Show on March 28.
One of the most notable changes to the 2019 edition is the electronic parking brake, in place of the previously cable-operated brake. The new brake features an automatic hold and is located in the center console beside the rotary infotainment dial, freeing up additional space for storage.
While the 2019 model includes the same SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine as the previous edition, it has been refined with increased power and torque for optimal performance.
According to Mazda, the engine is said to, “Reduce internal friction, increase torque, and improve refinement and fuel economy.”
With an improvement of 2 horsepower and 2 lb-ft from the 2018 model, the new engine boasts output ratings of 148 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque.
Significant changes have also been made to the comfort of the interior with adjustments to the seating. The front seats have been redesigned to be wider and are also available in full leather on top trims for the first time ever. But Mazda did not forget about the rear seats. The back seats now include a new fold-down center armrest, complete with cup holders.
Other interior adjustments include the soft-touch faux-suede material on the dashboard as well as on the door tops.
Exterior improvements include the new 18-inch wheels and the updated light signature on the LED taillights which feature a design which more closely resemble front headlights.
In an effort to decrease noise in the cabin of the vehicle, thicker door panels, rear-door glass, and headliner were added to the CX-3 model. The new edition will also feature Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control programming and re-tuned suspension and steering for a smoother drive.
Pricing for the 2019 CX-3 subcompact crossover SUV is expected to be announced soon.
