Mazda has unveiled the perfect vehicle to celebrate its 100-year milestone—the best-selling two-seat sports car in the world—the MX-5 Miata.
Not only is this roadster classy, dynamic and powerful, it is an iconic epitome of Mazda’s origins and its passion for motorsport over the past 100 years and beyond.
· Exterior
The Mazda MX-5 Miata depicts sophistication and timelessness, as expected from a special centennial model. It is incorporated with retro-inspired livery in a callback to the R360 Coupe, Mazda’s first-ever production car.
Mazda’s 100th Anniversary Special Edition Miata is available in both the retractable fastback (RF) or standout red soft top, and will exclusively be offered in Snowflake White Pearl Mica premium exterior paint with red styling accents. It features a minimalist “100 years 1920–2020” badge in the front fender. On the wheel center caps, the 100th Anniversary special logos are rendered in red and black.
· Interior
The special edition Miata features red interior, red carpets, and a burgundy folding roof.
Also highlighted on the interior are one of a kind centennial touches. The headrests have embossed 100th-anniversary logos while the floor mats have custom badging.
Other noteworthy and luxury amenities of the MX-5 Miata include heated leather seats, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto connectivity, and a Bose audio system with driver and passenger headrest-mounted speakers.
· Power
The commemorative Miata is also a symbol of dynamic, top-down driving on thrilling open roads.
It is based on the 2020 MX-5 Grand Touring model. This means it is equipped with a four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 2.0 engine that boasts up to 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. The engine can be paired with a Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters or a Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual gearbox. If you choose the Manual, Mazda will include a limited-slip differential, Bilstein dampers, a front shock tower brace, sport-tuned suspension, and a black roof for the RF.
· 100th Anniversary Special Edition Items
Mazda also offers unique commemorative items to express the years of appreciation from birth through the growth and maturation of the brand. These include a cast metal keychain medallion, genuine ceramic mugs, 1/43 scale model cars featuring the heritage and concept Mazda vehicles, and a “Mazda One Hundred” coffee table book filled with curated images of past, present and future of Mazda.
For the MX-5 soft top manual version, prices start at $32, 670 while the MX-5 RF starts at $35,425. The commemorative Miata will only be offered in limited numbers.
