The 2020 Mazda CX-30 has earned the impressive Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)  “Top Safety Pick” award.
To qualify for the 2020 Top Safety Pick award, the CX-30 needed advanced or superior ratings for both vehicle-to-pedestrian and vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention, an acceptable or good headlight rating, and a good rating in all of the six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations. These included passenger-side small overlap front, driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.
Jeff Guyton, the Mazda North American Operations President, expressed his pride in having the CX-30 earn the 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick award, stating that “safety is a top priority with Mazda,” and that the company is committed to providing “the most advanced safety technologies in our vehicles.” He went on to explain that Mazda continues to challenge itself “to create unique products and technologies, which will provide our customers with a confident, relaxing, joyful driving experience.”
A large series of advanced safety technologies are encompassed within Mazda i-Activsense. These features make use of detection devices including cameras and mill wave radars. Mazda’s i-Activsense advance safety technology includes Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Front-Lighting System, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Control, Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection, Smart Brake Support, Smart Brake Support with Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear-Cross-Traffic Alert, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go Function, and Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keep Assist.
Mazda’s i-Activsense’s safety technologies support safer driving by ultimately helping the driver recognize potential hazards. Its pre-crash safety technologies help avert collisions, or in the case where they cannot be avoided, reduce their severity.
In addition to the CX-30, the Mazda CX-9 has also received the IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2020. Mazda has also won several Top Safety Pick+ Awards as IIHS notes the company as a standout, earning more Top Safety Pick+ awards than the other automakers.
Mazda, the safer choice.
