Mazda’s recent perfect score from the 2021 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) assessment is a sweeping testament of its commitment to exceptional vehicle safety.
Seven out of seven tested 2021 Model Year Mazda automobiles are winners of the coveted Top Safety Pick+ award, the highest safety award granted by IIHS. What’s even more astonishing is — this is the second year in a row that these vehicles have earned the high marks.
The Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-30, CX-5, and CX-9 qualified by earning good ratings in the Institute’s six crashworthiness evaluations. These tests included driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, roof strength, side, and head restraint tests.
Further proving its elevated safety performance, IIHS reported the Mazda vehicles also earned good or acceptable headlight ratings, and advanced or superior ratings for front crash prevention in both vehicle-to-pedestrian and vehicle-to-vehicle evaluations.
Mazda North American Operations President Jeff Guyton attributed this achievement to their commitment to customers.
Massive Feat
The IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award is known in the American vehicle market as the toughest safety score to earn as the Institute sets the bar higher every year or two. Having all tested Mazda vehicles earn it is undeniably a massive feat.
