The 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata keeps all of the fun of the classic Japanese sports car, while still keeping some modern advances. The main selling point of the Miata is how much fun it is to drive, and the 2022 model certainly excels in that division.

Weighing just 2,341 pounds, the car is agile and handles well. The handling of the car is improved by the implementation of a new feature called Kinematic Posture Control. This system works by applying a slight braking pressure to the inner rear wheel during high-g cornering. This suppresses body roll and makes the steering response feel more linear throughout tight corners. Even when accelerating through tight corners, the MX-5 allows the driver to feel that they are fully in control because of this system. The classic manual transmission in the Miata is smooth as always, but an automatic transmission is also available and shifts quickly.

The performance of the Miata is exciting and sporty; the car reaches 0-60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. This is thanks to the 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine, which puts out 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 MX-5 reaches a top speed of 140 mph. None of this performance comes at the cost of efficiency, however. The Miata is EPA certified to get 26 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.

The interior has all of the modern advancements you expect in a car from 2022.  Every Miata comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity, HD radio and a CD player. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models. This modern technology is also present in the car's safety certifications. Key safety features include automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, and lane-departure warning, all of which come standard. Overall, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has all you need in a fun, sporty car without breaking the bank.
