Mazda Motor Corporation has always been on a mission to lend a helping hand to where it is needed.

In Ukraine, unrest remains as heavy fighting persists between Russian and Ukrainian forces. According to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, about 90% of the city’s buildings, and “all of its critical infrastructure” have already been destroyed. Should the war deepen more, initial projections released by the United Nations Development Programme suggest that 90% of the Ukrainian population could face poverty, and extreme economic vulnerability.

With the events taking place in Ukraine, Mazda Motor Corporation is deeply saddened and heartbroken. They are concerned for the well-being and safety of families and individuals in Ukraine and countries in the region who are facing extraordinary struggles.

While fervently hoping for the situation to end as soon as possible, Mazda has come forward to support humanitarian efforts to help the affected population. Their colleagues in Europe are already actively aiding in the provision of materials and logistics.

To further heighten its assistance, the Japanese automaker has made a financial donation of 1 million Euros to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the UN Refugee Agency orchestrating humanitarian aid activities in the affected areas. The donation will be utilized for the catering of meals, accommodation, medical services, and relocation support, among others.

Moreover, local employees of Mazda operations in Europe are working hand-in-hand to carry out grassroots activities in order to spark hope and light amid the circumstances. Inspired by their contributions to make a difference, Mazda Group employees around the world are giving, collecting, and distributing donations to back these activities in Europe.

Efforts will not stop here. As the needs of the community change, Mazda will adapt to give the most needed and effective support, meaningful programs, and volunteer activities to help the victims of war rise from the rubbles.

There’s more to Mazda than excellence in vehicle production, it strongly believes that a company has a responsibility to give back to the communities where it does business. Mazda will continue to strive in helping its employees, and community members recover and live joyful, healthy lives.
