Ready to enter a new chapter of Mazda’s iconic CX-5 crossover? Boasting of a model reworked inside and out, a presence that demands attention on and off road, a more expansive interior, and modern technology thoughtfully designed around everyday use, the new 2026 CX-5 is sure to impress.

Bolder, More Chiseled Exterior

The next-generation CX-5 isn’t just another SUV—it’s Mazda’s representation of “Wearable Gear.” Think of it like your favorite jacket: sharp enough for a night out, tough enough for an adventure, and comfortable enough for everyday life. It’s style with muscle, versatility with attitude, and it just works no matter where the road takes you.

Sharpening Mazda’s Kodo design, the 2026 CX-5 shows off a familiar shape but now carries a bolder, wider stance, with angular lights and a Signature Wing grille that flows seamlessly into the body—less a feature, more a statement.

“Kigumi” inspired the vehicle’s design process. This is a Japanese architectural principle where precise wood joinery is used as the technique of construction instead of conventional nails and screws. You can see this in the way the body lines flow into the fender trim. At the rear, the CX-5 adopts sleeker, more sculpted taillights that echo the design language of the larger CX-70 and CX-90, while the classic emblem is replaced by bold ‘MAZDA’ lettering for a stronger presence.

The result of the changes? The new CX-5 grew in proportions, stretching 4.5 inches longer in both overall length and wheelbase, while gaining just over half an inch in width.

Performance Tuned for Response

Engineering updates target precision without trading away comfort. Steering calibration has been refined for clearer on-center feel, the suspension is retuned for crisp turn-in, and i-Activ all-wheel-drive logic has been updated to anticipate grip changes sooner. Powertrain choices include Mazda’s familiar four-cylinder engines, with an available turbocharged variant for stronger acceleration. A hybrid model is planned for 2027 to expand efficiency options.

Elevated Safety and Driver Assurance

The 2026 CX-5 continues to champion Mazda’s commitment to prioritizing safety, consistently earning IIHS Top Safety Pick+ honors as one of the safest vehicles in its category. The 2026 model has an expanded suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies designed to support driver awareness and confidence.

Cabin Technology and Visibility

Inside, technology serves the driver’s focus. A new 15.6-inch center display, the largest ever offered in a Mazda, improves visibility for navigation, media, and vehicle settings, with Google built-in on upper trims for familiar apps and voice control. The seating position, sightlines, and control layout are arranged for natural reach and reduced distraction. Materials and trim options, including available Nappa leather, raise perceived quality, while added rear legroom and acoustic improvements improve comfort for passengers.

The all-new CX-5 will arrive at U.S. dealerships in early 2026.
